Strike at the French Blood Establishment in Lyon: Staff denounce "pressure"

Unions at the French Blood Establishment are calling for a strike against poor working conditions and for pay increases. Walkouts are planned in Lyon.
A strike notice has been filed by four unions at the French Blood Establishment, from Tuesday, June 24 to Monday, June 30. This new strike comes amid the ineffectiveness of mandatory annual negotiations, the NAO.
" The staff of the French Blood Establishment are saying stop to the transformation of the establishment under these conditions ," the CFDT denounced in a press release, which pointed in particular to the upcoming implementation of an objective performance contract. " Staff are under pressure: difficult recruitment, deteriorating working conditions, and a compromised work-life balance ," the unions continued.
" Hundreds of blood drives are canceled every year due to a lack of doctors, nurses, and drivers ," they continue. To increase the attractiveness of the sector and address the " staff shortage ," they are mobilizing in particular to obtain " significant " salary increases, at least in line with 2024 inflation. As part of the NAO, " no salary measures or improvements to working conditions " have been proposed for 2025, they indicate.
No declared gathering at the prefecture is planned in Lyon, the CFDT told Lyon Capitale. " The current assignments (which ensure continuous care in the event of a strike, Editor's note) in the facility are forcing us to walk out for a few hours ," continues Roland Clerc, regional union representative, who points out that a gathering is planned at the national headquarters in the Paris region.
